The Project: To build a dream home for the client in an affluent neighborhood in Nashua, NH. Jennings Excavation Inc. was hired to consult and locate the building, underground work, and all outside elements  relatioonship to the site. One of the requests from the oener was to save a large old oak tree.

October 2002

The owner secures Jennings Excavation Inc. landscape division to draw a master site and landscape plan for new 3,360 square foot dream home located at Tanglewood Estates Nashua, NH. Located on a heavily wooded lot with a grade change of over 20 feet in elevation from the main road to the front door. The owner wanted to locate the home as far back from the street as possible. This would create a private and a unique neighborly setting.

Spring and Summer 2003

3000 cubic yards of blasting and lot clearing took place in the early spring of 2003. This allowed for the underground utilities, roadway, landscape, and most importantly the foundation for the 3360 sq ft home. Once the foundaton was poured, the site work continued.  This involved building the undergound drainage, laying crushed stone in the basement and back filling.  Retaining walls were built to provide a unique look and to adjust the new contours of the land.

The size and location of the lot,  was made cumbersome by the 3500 yards of material in stockpiles. This made it very cumbersome to maneuver the equipment and limited the cement trucks access. We overcame this limiting challenge by stockpiling the materials and slowly working sections of the lot.

Another unforseen predictment was a lack of electrical service. We were hire to install a new Single Phase electrical transformer pad to provide service to the clients home and the adjacent lot.

Fall 2003

A 10% grade on the driveway was created to meet the town requirements. The lot was also filled with gravel, sub-soils and sand to balance the shape of the lot. In preparation for the landscaping in the spring, grading of the lot with loam bark was also completed. The fall work included underground sleeves for the utilities. Custom-cut Granite curbing was installed in a 12 ' radius to accent the front entry. A finishing touch of stamped concrete was installed in the front and back patio area.
