Location: Northern Massachusetts
Project: Microtouch Systems Complete Site Development.
Objective: Complete lot clearing, excavation, underground utilities, drainage, finish paving and landscaping. Mid December 1996 to May 31, 1997 Budget: over half a million

The Project Overview: Microtouch Systems of Massachusetts, manufacturers of touch screen monitors for computers were under corporate pressure to build a new site and relocate its facility as quickly as possible. The existing facility was too small and they needed immediate space to increase the production line. Jennings Excavation Inc. received a "letter of intent" in mid December 1996, to implement the complete site work on the eight acre site.

Challenges: We discovered large areas of ledge that was not noted on the site plans. This required that we secure a blasting crew to handle the situation. This allowed the site construction to continue and not hold up any other sub contractors involved in the project.

Good Planning: Starting so late into the season, we anticipated frost in the ground, which needed to be removed; additionally a major snow storm hit the area which stopped all productions for a few days. The complete site development included land clearing, cut and fill of earth to level an area for the new building and its amenities.

Work Continues: We installed all of the underground utilities which included all drainage pipes, sewer and water hook-up and site lighting. The rock from blasting was crushed and used for the new roads and parking lot area.

The project was moving so well, the owners were anxious to move in. but first the parking lot needed to be completed. Because the ground was still frozen with 24 " of frost, MicroTouch agreed in having us remove the frost off site in preparation for paving of the parking lot area.

The owners were ecstatic to see that the manufacturing facility could now be re-located to a newly constructed Building. Despite all the set backs from the elements Jennings Excavation Inc. finished the project in record time. The Microtouch System company was very pleased with the outcome of the project. They found immense value in the site excavation work at a cost in excess of $500,000.00.
